A highly-contagious viral infection, affecting young children, adults, and, of course, those who have not been immunized. Young children are generally mildly affected, however, Chickenpox can be more severe in adults, and those with weakened immune systems.

A highly dangerous disease which causes inflammation of the lining of the brain and spinal cord. Bacterial Meningitis can lead to Septicaemia, which can become fatal.

HPV

Transmitted through sexual contact and it is possible to have the virus without knowing. This form of cancer originates in the cells of the cervix when abnormal cells begin to develop and multiply out of control.

Shingles

An infection of a nerve, and the band of skin supplied by the affected nerve. It can cause pain, and an itchy rash, which remains localised, and normally takes from 2 to 4 weeks to clear up.

MMR

A safe and effective combined vaccine that protects against 3 separate illnesses – measles, mumps and rubella (German measles) – in a single injection.
Measles, mumps and rubella are highly infectious conditions that can have serious, potentially fatal complications, including meningitis, swelling of the brain (encephalitis) and deafness.
They can also lead to complications in pregnancy that affect the unborn baby, and can lead to miscarriage.
The full course of MMR vaccination requires 2 doses.
